BLUE ART GALLERY by Gennie Prochazka

Artist Statement

In an effort to (most likely) shut me up and stop pestering her, my mother handed me some paper and a pencil when I was very little. “Here”, she said… “be quiet and draw a princess for me.” Not knowing how to draw a princess, but certainly intrigued, I started drawing and painting…. and haven’t stopped. It started with princesses and fairy-tale creatures (most notably Alice in Wonderland), and now… anything and anyone is fair game for my imagination and paint brush. People intrigue me the most… as they come in all shapes and sizes and you never know who will come around the corner.

I use pen and ink and watercolor with lots and lots of unexpected detail, which gives my artwork a unique and distinctive style (so I’ve been told). The most important thing is that what I create amuses me and gives me a sense of peace. Sometimes you want to be something else or somewhere else…and art allows you to travel there.

I've been illustrating children's books and magazine short stories for over 20 years and have recently forayed into handmade greeting cards and design.

Please visit my resume for more details on my artistic background and clientele.
